Arkansas Health Connector
Arkansas Health Connector is a health insurance marketplace established by the U.S. state of Arkansas to ensure that every resident has access to quality, affordable health care. It was created in response to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), which was signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2010.
Overview[edit]
The Arkansas Health Connector operates as a partnership between the federal government and the state of Arkansas. It provides a platform where individuals, families, and small businesses can compare and purchase health insurance plans. The marketplace is accessible online, over the phone, or in person through certified health insurance agents and brokers.
Eligibility[edit]
To be eligible to purchase insurance through the Arkansas Health Connector, individuals must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully present in the U.S., live in Arkansas, and not be incarcerated. Certain income requirements also apply, and individuals may qualify for subsidies to help offset the cost of insurance.
Health Plans[edit]
The Arkansas Health Connector offers a variety of health insurance plans to meet the needs of different individuals and families. These plans are categorized into four "metal" levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Each level represents a different balance of monthly premium costs versus out-of-pocket expenses.
Enrollment[edit]
Enrollment in the Arkansas Health Connector is typically open from November 1 to December 15 each year. However, certain life events, such as getting married, having a baby, or losing other health coverage, may qualify individuals for a Special Enrollment Period.
