Apparent (/əˈpær.ənt/) is an adjective often used in medical terminology to describe something that appears to be true based on the evidence that is available, but may not be the case. The term is derived from the Latin word 'apparentem', meaning 'visible, open to view, clear'.

In medical terminology, 'apparent' is used to describe symptoms, conditions, or results that seem to be present based on initial observation or testing, but may not be confirmed until further investigation is conducted. For example, an 'apparent' heart attack may initially seem to be a heart attack based on the patient's symptoms, but further testing may reveal it to be a different condition.
