Androdioecious

Androdioecious (pronunciation: an-dro-di-ee-shuhs) is a term used in the field of Botany to describe a plant species in which some individuals are hermaphrodite (possessing both male and female reproductive organs) and others are male.

Etymology

The term 'Androdioecious' is derived from the Greek words 'andro' meaning male, 'di' meaning two, and 'oikos' meaning house. This refers to the two types of 'houses' or individuals present in the species - males and hermaphrodites.
