Anaheim Fire & Rescue

Anaheim Fire & Rescue (pronounced: An-a-hime Fire & Res-cue) is the primary agency responsible for fire suppression, emergency medical services, and related emergency services in the city of Anaheim, California.

Etymology

The name "Anaheim" is a blend of "Ana", after the nearby Santa Ana River, and "heim", a common German place name compound originally meaning "home". The "Fire & Rescue" part of the name refers to the department's primary responsibilities of fire suppression and rescue operations.

History

Anaheim Fire & Rescue was established in the late 19th century, shortly after the incorporation of the city of Anaheim. The department has grown in size and scope along with the city, and today it is one of the largest fire departments in Orange County.

Operations

Anaheim Fire & Rescue operates out of several fire stations located throughout the city. The department's operations are divided into two main divisions: the Fire Suppression Division and the Emergency Medical Services Division. The Fire Suppression Division is responsible for responding to fires and other emergencies, while the Emergency Medical Services Division provides medical care and transport for the sick and injured.
