Amla, also known as Indian Gooseberry or by its scientific name, Phyllanthus emblica, is a deciduous tree of the family Phyllanthaceae. It is known for its edible fruit of the same name.
The Amla tree is native to India and Nepal, and is considered a sacred tree in Hinduism. Its fruits have been used in Ayurveda for thousands of years due to their high vitamin C content and numerous medicinal properties.
Description
The Amla tree grows up to 18 meters tall and has a crooked trunk and spreading branches. Its leaves are simple, light green, and closely set along the branchlets. The tree bears yellow-green flowers and round, light green fruits that are smooth and hard on appearance.
Uses
