Altbib

Altbib (pronounced: alt-bib) is a bibliographic database developed and maintained by the National Library of Medicine (NLM). It is designed to assist in the identification and retrieval of citations from scientific literature that address the use of alternatives to live vertebrates in biomedical research and testing.

Etymology

The term "Altbib" is an abbreviation of "Alternatives to Animal Testing Bibliography". The name reflects the database's purpose of providing alternatives to the use of live vertebrates in biomedical research.
