Allt-A-Bhainne distillery
Allt-A-Bhainne is a Scotch whisky distillery located in the Speyside region of Scotland. The distillery was established in 1975 by Chivas Brothers, a subsidiary of Pernod Ricard, a French company that produces alcoholic beverages.
History[edit]
The Allt-A-Bhainne distillery was built in 1975 by Chivas Brothers to ensure a steady supply of malt whisky for their blended whiskies. The distillery was designed to be highly efficient and largely self-sufficient. The distillery was mothballed in 2002, but resumed production in 2005.
Production[edit]
The Allt-A-Bhainne distillery has a production capacity of four million litres of spirit per year. The distillery uses a combination of traditional and modern equipment, including a mash tun made from stainless steel and six wooden washbacks for fermentation. The distillery has two stills, one wash still and one spirit still, which are heated by steam coils.
Products[edit]
The Allt-A-Bhainne distillery primarily produces malt whisky for use in blended whiskies. However, the distillery also releases a limited amount of single malt whisky. The distillery's single malt whisky is known for its light and fruity character with a hint of spice.
