Adventure is a term that refers to an exciting or unusual experience. It may also be a bold, usually risky undertaking, with an uncertain outcome.

Etymology

The word "adventure" comes from the Old French aventure (12c.), which itself is derived from the Latin adventura, meaning 'a thing about to happen'. The term is a derivation of advenire, 'arrive'.
