A Song of Ice and Fire is a series of epic fantasy novels by the American novelist George R. R. Martin. The series currently comprises five published novels with two more planned. The first novel, A Game of Thrones, was published in 1996. The series has been adapted into the successful television series by HBO.

Plot Overview

The story of A Song of Ice and Fire is set in the fictional continents of Westeros and Essos. The narrative interweaves several plot lines with a large ensemble cast of characters.
