Follicular refers to anything related to a follicle. In the context of medicine, it often refers to a type of lymphoma known as Follicular Lymphoma, or to a type of thyroid cancer known as Follicular Thyroid Cancer.

Follicular Lymphoma[edit]

Follicular Lymphoma is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma that affects the lymphatic system. It is characterized by slow growth and often presents with painless lymphadenopathy. The disease is typically diagnosed through a biopsy of an affected lymph node. Treatment options include radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.

Follicular Thyroid Cancer[edit]

Follicular Thyroid Cancer is a type of thyroid cancer that originates from the follicular cells of the thyroid gland. It is the second most common type of thyroid cancer and is more likely to spread and recur than papillary thyroid cancer. Diagnosis is typically made through a fine needle aspiration biopsy. Treatment usually involves surgery to remove the thyroid (thyroidectomy) and may also include radioactive iodine therapy.
