Harold Nelson Bornstein (March 26, 1947 – January 8, 2021) was an American physician best known for being the personal doctor of Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States. Bornstein was a gastroenterologist who practiced medicine in New York City for over four decades.

Early life and education

Bornstein was born in New York City to Jacob Bornstein, a prominent physician, and Gertrude Bornstein. He attended Tufts University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1968. He continued his education at the Tufts University School of Medicine, receiving his M.D. in 1975. Following his graduation, Bornstein completed his residency in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.

Medical career

Bornstein joined his father's medical practice in Manhattan, where he specialized in gastroenterology. Over the years, he built a reputation for his unconventional style and his commitment to his patients. His practice was known for its personalized care and attention to detail.

Relationship with Donald Trump

Bornstein became widely known as the personal physician to Donald Trump. He began treating Trump in 1980, following in the footsteps of his father, who had also been Trump's doctor. The letter, which was later revealed to have been dictated by Trump himself, was criticized for its hyperbolic language.

In 2017, Bornstein claimed that Trump's bodyguard and two other men had "raided" his office, taking all of Trump's medical records. This incident led to further scrutiny of Bornstein's role as Trump's physician.

Personal life
