Papa Gino's is a regional pizza chain based in New England, United States. The company was founded in 1961 in East Boston, Massachusetts, as a single pizzeria named "Piece O' Pizza". It was renamed to Papa Gino's in 1968 and has since expanded to over 150 locations throughout the New England region.

History[edit]

Papa Gino's was founded by Michael Valerio and his wife Helen in East Boston in 1961. The couple initially named their pizzeria "Piece O' Pizza" but changed the name to Papa Gino's in 1968 to reflect the family-friendly atmosphere they wanted to create. The Valerios' recipes, inspired by their Italian heritage, quickly gained popularity, leading to the expansion of Papa Gino's across New England.

Menu[edit]

Papa Gino's menu primarily consists of pizza, pasta, subs, and salads. The chain is particularly known for its thin-crust pizza, which is made using a recipe that has been passed down through the Valerio family. In addition to its regular menu, Papa Gino's also offers catering services for special events and parties.

Business Model[edit]

Papa Gino's operates on a franchise business model. As of 2021, the chain has over 150 locations across New England, with the majority of these being franchise-owned. The company provides comprehensive training and support to its franchisees, including assistance with site selection, construction, operations, marketing, and ongoing training.

Community Involvement[edit]

Papa Gino's is actively involved in the communities it serves. The company regularly sponsors local sports teams and participates in community events. It also runs a rewards program, where customers can earn points for every dollar spent at Papa Gino's, which can be redeemed for free food and discounts.
