Elizabeth Jaffee is an American oncologist and immunologist known for her significant contributions to the field of cancer immunotherapy. She is currently the Deputy Director of the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins University.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Elizabeth Jaffee was born in the United States. She completed her undergraduate studies at Brandeis University, where she developed an interest in biology and medicine. She then pursued her medical degree at the New York Medical College.

Career[edit]

After completing her medical degree, Jaffee moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she joined the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in internal medicine and fellowship in oncology at the same institution.

In her career, Jaffee has focused on the development of vaccines for pancreatic cancer and other types of cancer. She is known for her work on the development of the first vaccine for pancreatic cancer, which has shown promise in early-phase clinical trials.

Jaffee is also recognized for her leadership roles in various medical and scientific organizations. She served as the president of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) from 2018 to 2019. She is also a member of the National Cancer Advisory Board.

Research[edit]

Jaffee's research focuses on the development of immunotherapy treatments for cancer. She is particularly known for her work on GVAX, a vaccine for pancreatic cancer. Her research has contributed to the understanding of the immune response to cancer and the development of new treatments.

Awards and Recognition[edit]

Jaffee has received numerous awards for her contributions to cancer research, including the AACR Joseph H. Burchenal Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Clinical Cancer Research and the Susan G. Komen Brinker Award for Scientific Distinction in Basic Science.
