Aix-Marseille University (AMU) is a public research university located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region of France. It is one of the largest universities in the French-speaking world, with a student population of over 80,000. The university was established in 2012 through the merger of three universities: the University of Provence, the University of the Mediterranean, and Paul Cézanne University.

History

The origins of Aix-Marseille University can be traced back to the 15th century, when Louis II of Anjou founded the University of Provence in 1409. Over the centuries, the university evolved and expanded, eventually merging with other institutions to form the modern AMU.
