Eagle Butte is a city located in Dewey and Ziebach counties in the state of South Dakota, United States. It is the largest community on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation.

History[edit]

Eagle Butte was founded in 1910. The city was named after a nearby geographical feature known as Eagle Butte. The Cheyenne River Indian Reservation was established in 1889, and Eagle Butte has since become a central hub for the Lakota people living in the area.
