Carolyn Kaelin

Carolyn Mary Kaelin (June 4, 1961 – July 28, 2015) was an American breast surgeon, author, and researcher. She was the founding director of the Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

Early Life and Education

Carolyn Kaelin was born in Syracuse, New York. She attended Smith College where she graduated summa cum laude. She then earned her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. Kaelin completed her surgical residency at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and a fellowship in surgical oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Career

Kaelin was a pioneer in the field of breast cancer treatment and research. She was instrumental in developing innovative approaches to breast surgery and patient care.
