Bradley County, Tennessee







Bradley County, Tennessee is a county located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 108,620. The county seat is Cleveland. Bradley County is part of the Cleveland, Tennessee metropolitan area.
History[edit]
Bradley County was established in 1836 and named in honor of Colonel Edward Bradley, a state legislator and War of 1812 veteran. The area was originally inhabited by the Cherokee people before their forced removal during the Trail of Tears.
Geography[edit]
According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 331 square miles (857 km²), of which 329 square miles (852 km²) is land and 2.1 square miles (5.4 km²) (0.6%) is water. The county is situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and is characterized by rolling hills and valleys.

Demographics[edit]
As of the 2020 census, the racial makeup of the county was 88.1% White, 4.5% African American, 0.4% Native American, 1.4% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 2.5% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.1% of the population.
Economy[edit]
Bradley County's economy is diverse, with significant contributions from manufacturing, retail, and healthcare sectors. Major employers include Whirlpool Corporation, Duracell, and Cleveland State Community College.
Education[edit]
The county is served by the Bradley County Schools system, which includes several elementary, middle, and high schools. Higher education institutions in the county include Cleveland State Community College and Lee University.
Transportation[edit]
Major highways in Bradley County include Interstate 75, U.S. Route 11, and U.S. Route 64. The county is also served by the Cleveland Regional Jetport.
