Green Spot (whiskey)
Green Spot is a brand of Irish whiskey produced by the Midleton Distillery for Mitchell & Son of Dublin, Ireland. It is a single pot still whiskey, which means it is made from a mixture of malted and unmalted barley distilled in a traditional pot still. Green Spot is one of the few remaining bonded Irish whiskeys, a practice that was once common in Ireland.
History[edit]
The origins of Green Spot date back to the early 20th century when the Mitchell family, who were wine merchants, began maturing whiskey in their own casks. The whiskey was sourced from the Jameson Distillery and aged in casks that had previously held sherry and other wines. The Mitchells would mark the casks with a spot of paint to indicate the age of the whiskey, with Green Spot denoting a 10-year-old whiskey.
Production[edit]
Green Spot is produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, which is also home to other well-known Irish whiskey brands such as Jameson, Redbreast, and Powers. The whiskey is made using a combination of malted and unmalted barley, which is triple distilled in copper pot stills. It is then aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, which impart a rich and complex flavor profile.

- Green Spot Single Cask: A limited edition release that is bottled from a single cask, offering a unique and distinct flavor profile.
