Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia and its largest city. History

The area of Ljubljana has been continuously inhabited since prehistoric times. The oldest known settlements date back to the Bronze Age. The city was first mentioned in written sources in 1112. During the Roman Empire, a military encampment called Emona was established in the area.
