Claus Meyer

Claus Meyer (born December 27, 1963) is a Danish culinary entrepreneur, chef, and food activist. He is widely recognized for his contributions to the New Nordic Cuisine movement and for co-founding the world-renowned restaurant Noma in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Early Life and Education[edit]
Claus Meyer was born in Nykøbing Falster, Denmark. He developed an interest in cooking at a young age and pursued his passion by studying at the Institut National de la Boulangerie Pâtisserie in France. Meyer later earned a degree in business administration from the Copenhagen Business School.
Career[edit]
New Nordic Cuisine[edit]
Meyer is a prominent advocate of the New Nordic Cuisine movement, which emphasizes the use of local, seasonal ingredients and traditional cooking techniques. In 2003, he co-authored the New Nordic Food Manifesto, which laid the foundation for the movement and inspired chefs across the Nordic countries to embrace their culinary heritage.
Noma[edit]
In 2003, Claus Meyer co-founded Noma with chef René Redzepi. The restaurant quickly gained international acclaim for its innovative approach to Nordic cuisine and has been named the World's Best Restaurant multiple times.
Other Ventures[edit]
Meyer has been involved in numerous other culinary ventures, including the establishment of the Meyers Madhus (Meyer's House of Food), a cooking school and food laboratory in Copenhagen. He has also launched several food-related businesses, such as Meyers Bageri (Meyer's Bakery) and Meyers Deli.
Philanthropy[edit]
Claus Meyer is committed to social and environmental causes. He founded the Melting Pot Foundation, which aims to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged communities through culinary education and sustainable food practices. The foundation has projects in various countries, including Bolivia and the United States.
Personal Life[edit]
Meyer is married and has three daughters. He continues to reside in Copenhagen, where he remains actively involved in the culinary scene.
