Tootsie Roll Industries is an American manufacturer of confectionery products. The company is best known for producing the Tootsie Roll, a chocolate-flavored taffy-like candy that has been a popular treat since its introduction in 1896. The company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

Tootsie Roll Industries was founded by Leo Hirshfield, an Austrian immigrant, in 1896. Hirshfield named the candy after his daughter, Clara, whose nickname was "Tootsie." The company initially operated out of a small shop in New York City, but as the popularity of the Tootsie Roll grew, the company expanded its operations.

In 1931, the company introduced the Tootsie Pop, a hard candy lollipop with a Tootsie Roll center. This product became another iconic item in the company's lineup. Over the years, Tootsie Roll Industries has acquired several other confectionery companies, including Charms Company, Cella's Confections, and Andes Candies.
