This condition was later identified as Crohn's disease, named after the American gastroenterologist Burrill Crohn who, along with his colleagues, described similar findings in 1932.

Dalziel's detailed descriptions of the histopathological features of the disease, including the presence of granulomas, were instrumental in advancing the understanding of inflammatory bowel diseases.
