Sleep spindle
Sleep spindle is a specific pattern of brain activity that is associated with the non-REM (rapid eye movement) stage of sleep. These spindles are bursts of oscillatory brain activity visible on an electroencephalogram (EEG), typically with a frequency range of 11 to 16 Hz (most commonly around 12-14 Hz) and lasting for about 0.5 to 1.5 seconds. Sleep spindles are thought to play a role in sleep consolidation, the process by which recent memories are transformed into long-term memories. Characteristics
