Maxie Anderson

Maxie Leroy Anderson (September 10, 1934 – June 27, 1983) was an American balloonist renowned for his adventurous spirit and significant contributions to the field of ballooning. He is best known for his achievements in long-distance balloon flights, including the first successful transatlantic balloon flight.

This historic flight marked a significant milestone in the history of ballooning and earned Anderson and his team international acclaim.

In 1980, Anderson attempted another ambitious flight, this time aiming for the first transcontinental balloon crossing of the United States in the Double Eagle V. The flight started in Fort Baker, California, and successfully ended in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. This achievement further solidified Anderson's reputation as a pioneering balloonist.

Death
