The Dorsal Artery of the Penis is one of the key arteries supplying blood to the penis. It is a branch of the internal pudendal artery and runs along the dorsal vein, between the corpora cavernosa.

Anatomy

The dorsal artery arises from the internal pudendal artery and travels along the top of the penis, between the corpora cavernosa. It gives off several smaller branches which supply blood to the urethra, glans penis, and the skin of the penis.

Function

The primary function of the dorsal artery is to supply blood to the penis. It plays a crucial role in erection and sexual function.

Clinical significance

Understanding the anatomy of the dorsal artery is important in several medical procedures, including penile implant surgery and penile Doppler ultrasound.
