Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) is a charity based in Scotland that provides hospice services for children and young people with life-shortening conditions. CHAS offers palliative care, family respite and support throughout Scotland.

History

CHAS was established in 1992 by a group of professionals and parents who recognized the need for a children's hospice service in Scotland. The charity's first hospice, Rachel House, opened in 1996 in Kinross, becoming Scotland's first children's hospice. In 2004, CHAS opened a second hospice, Robin House, in Balloch.

Services

CHAS provides a variety of services to support children with life-shortening conditions and their families. These include palliative care, respite care, and bereavement support. The charity also offers home care services through its CHAS at Home program, which provides nursing care and practical support for families in their own homes.

Funding

As a charity, CHAS relies heavily on donations and fundraising to maintain its services. The charity also receives some funding from the Scottish Government, but the majority of its income comes from public donations and fundraising events.

Impact

CHAS has had a significant impact on the lives of children with life-shortening conditions and their families in Scotland. The charity's services have been recognized for their high quality and the difference they make to the lives of those they support.
