Vegetarian Society is a non-profit organization that promotes vegetarianism and provides information and support to individuals following or considering a vegetarian lifestyle. The society was founded in the United Kingdom in 1847, making it one of the oldest vegetarian organizations in the world.

History

The Vegetarian Society was established on September 30, 1847 in Ramsgate, Kent, UK. The society was formed by members of the Bible Christian Church, a group of Christians who promoted vegetarianism as a form of ethical living. The society's founding members included Reverend William Cowherd and Joseph Brotherton, both of whom were advocates for vegetarianism and animal rights.

Activities

The Vegetarian Society engages in a variety of activities to promote vegetarianism.
