Jim Swire

Jim Swire is a British medical doctor and aviation security expert who is best known for his advocacy work following the Lockerbie bombing, in which his daughter Flora was killed.

Early life and career

Swire was born in England and trained as a doctor. He worked in general practice for many years before his daughter's death led him to become involved in aviation security.

Lockerbie bombing

On 21 December 1988, Swire's daughter Flora was one of 270 people killed in the Lockerbie bombing, a terrorist attack on Pan Am Flight 103. In the aftermath of the tragedy, Swire became a leading voice for the victims' families, campaigning for a full and transparent investigation into the bombing.

Advocacy work

Swire has been a prominent critic of the official investigation into the Lockerbie bombing. He has questioned the conviction of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the only person found guilty of the attack, and has called for a new inquiry into the bombing. Swire has also been involved in efforts to improve aviation security, and has given evidence to government inquiries on the subject.

Personal life

Swire is married and has two other children. He lives in Gloucestershire, England.
