Prospectville, Pennsylvania
Prospectville is a census-designated place (CDP) located in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. It is part of the Philadelphia Metropolitan Area, and is situated within Horsham Township.
Geography[edit]
Prospectville is located at 40°11′12″N 75°13′12″W. It is approximately 20 miles north of Philadelphia, and is surrounded by the communities of Horsham, Maple Glen, and Ambler. The community is primarily residential, with a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments.
History[edit]
The area that is now Prospectville was originally inhabited by the Lenape Native American tribe. European settlers arrived in the 18th century, and the community grew slowly over the next two centuries. The name "Prospectville" was officially adopted in the late 19th century.
Demographics[edit]
As of the 2010 United States Census, Prospectville had a population of approximately 1,600 residents. The community is diverse, with residents of various ethnicities and backgrounds.
Education[edit]
Prospectville is served by the Hatboro-Horsham School District, which operates several elementary schools, a middle school, and Hatboro-Horsham High School. There are also several private schools in the area.
Transportation[edit]
Prospectville is accessible via several major roads, including Pennsylvania Route 611, Pennsylvania Route 63, and Pennsylvania Route 463. The community is also served by the SEPTA regional rail system, with the nearest station located in nearby Ambler.
Recreation[edit]
There are several parks and recreational facilities in and around Prospectville, including Kohler Park, Graeme Park, and the Horsham Township Community Center.
