Institute for Food Safety and Health
Institute for Food Safety and Health (IFSH) is a collaborative venture between the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). The IFSH is dedicated to the advancement of food safety, food defense, and nutrition science.
History
The IFSH was established in 2011 as a result of a cooperative agreement between the FDA and IIT. The institute's mission is to conduct research that contributes to the understanding of food safety, nutrition, and health, and to disseminate this knowledge to the public.
Research
The IFSH conducts research in several key areas related to food safety and health. These include microbiology, chemistry, nutrition, and food processing. The institute's research is aimed at improving the safety and quality of the food supply, as well as enhancing the nutritional value of food.
Facilities
The IFSH operates a state-of-the-art research facility located on the IIT campus in Chicago, Illinois. The facility includes laboratories for microbiology, chemistry, and food processing, as well as a pilot plant for testing new food processing technologies.
