Gloria Brame

Gloria Brame (born August 20, 1955) is an American board certified sexologist, writer and sex therapist based in Athens, Georgia. She is a member of the American College of Sexologists, and clinical sexologist. Her sex therapy practice specializes in consensual BDSM, sexual fetishism and sexual dysfunction.

Dr. Brame is the author of several books, including "Different Loving: A Complete Exploration of the World of Sexual Dominance and Submission" and "Come Hither: A Commonsense Guide To Kinky Sex". She has also been a strong advocate for acceptance and understanding of alternative sexuality and kink in the medical community and general public.

Early Life and Education

Gloria Brame was born in New York City. She received her Bachelor's degree from City College of New York in 1977, and her Master's from Yeshiva University in 1982. She earned her Ph.D. in Human Sexuality from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality in San Francisco in 1992.

Career

Brame's career began as a writer and she has contributed to numerous scholarly publications and popular media outlets. She is best known for her first book, "Different Loving: A Complete Exploration of the World of Sexual Dominance and Submission", which was published in 1993. The book is considered a seminal work on BDSM and kink, and has been cited in numerous scholarly articles on the subject.

In 2000, Brame released "Come Hither: A Commonsense Guide To Kinky Sex", where she discusses the misconceptions and social stigmas surrounding kinky and fetish-related sex practices, and provides a comprehensive guide to the world of kink.

Brame has also been a strong advocate for the acceptance and understanding of alternative sexuality and kink in the medical community and general public. She has spoken at numerous conferences and events about the importance of understanding and accepting all forms of sexual expression.

Personal Life

Brame is openly bisexual and has been an active member of the LGBTQ+ community. She has been married twice and has one child.
