Speculum

Speculum is a medical tool used by healthcare professionals to investigate body orifices. The term derives from Latin speculum, meaning "mirror". Types of Specula

History

The speculum has been in use since ancient times, with evidence of specula used in Roman times for gynecological examinations. The design and materials have evolved over time, with modern specula being made of plastic or stainless steel.
