History

NuGrape was first introduced in 1921 by the National NuGrape Company in Atlanta, Georgia. The company was founded by John James Mangham, who was a pioneer in the bottled soda industry. He developed the unique grape flavor that NuGrape is known for, which set it apart from other grape sodas on the market.

In the late 1920s, NuGrape was franchised in over 40 states, making it a popular choice for soda drinkers across the country. The brand continued to grow in popularity throughout the 1930s and 1940s.

Ownership Changes

Over the years, the NuGrape brand has changed hands several times. In 1965, the National NuGrape Company was purchased by the Moxie Company. In 1970, Moxie was then purchased by the Monarch Beverage Company.

In 2008, the NuGrape brand and its sister brand, Sun Crest, were purchased by Big Red Ltd., a beverage company based in Waco, Texas. Big Red Ltd. continues to produce NuGrape soda to this day.

Product Line
