Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE) is a publicly traded company that operates as the bottler and distributor of Coca-Cola products in Western Europe. It was founded in 1986 as a joint venture between The Coca-Cola Company and two independent bottlers. CCE is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, United States, and has operations in 13 countries across Western Europe.

History

Coca-Cola Enterprises was established in 1986 when The Coca-Cola Company merged its bottling operations with the bottling operations of two independent bottlers, Johnston Coca-Cola Bottling Group and Coca-Cola Bottling Company of New York. The merger created a new company that became the largest bottler of Coca-Cola products in the world.

In 2010, Coca-Cola Enterprises announced its plans to restructure its operations and focus solely on its European operations. As part of the restructuring, the company sold its North American operations to The Coca-Cola Company. This move allowed Coca-Cola Enterprises to become a pure-play European bottler.

Operations

Coca-Cola Enterprises operates in 13 countries across Western Europe, including Belgium, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, among others. The company produces, markets, and distributes a wide range of non-alcoholic beverages, including carbonated soft drinks, juices, sports drinks, and energy drinks.

Coca-Cola Enterprises has a strong distribution network that includes direct store delivery, customer warehouses, and third-party distributors. The company works closely with its customers, which include retailers, restaurants, and convenience stores, to ensure that Coca-Cola products are readily available to consumers.

Sustainability Initiatives

Coca-Cola Enterprises is committed to sustainability and has implemented various initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. The company focuses on three key areas: water stewardship, energy and climate protection, and packaging and recycling.

In terms of water stewardship, Coca-Cola Enterprises aims to replenish 100% of the water used in its beverages and production processes. The company has implemented water conservation measures and collaborates with local communities to protect water sources.

To address energy and climate protection, Coca-Cola Enterprises has set targets to reduce its carbon footprint and increase energy efficiency. The company invests in renewable energy sources and continuously works to improve its energy management practices.

Coca-Cola Enterprises also focuses on packaging and recycling. The company aims to recover and recycle all of its packaging materials. It has implemented lightweight packaging designs and supports recycling initiatives in the communities where it operates.
