Ansells Brewery was a historic brewery located in Birmingham, England. It was founded in 1858 by Joseph Ansell and quickly became one of the largest and most successful breweries in the region.

History

Joseph Ansell, a local businessman, established Ansells Brewery in 1858. The brewery started small, but with Ansell's dedication and business acumen, it grew rapidly. By the late 19th century, Ansells Brewery had become a major player in the brewing industry, producing a wide range of beers and ales.

In 1919, Ansells Brewery merged with another local brewery, Davenport's, to form Davenport-Ansells Ltd. This merger allowed the company to expand its operations and increase its market share. The brewery continued to thrive throughout the early 20th century, even surviving the challenges of World War II.

In the 1960s, Ansells Brewery faced increasing competition from larger national breweries. Despite efforts to modernize and adapt to changing consumer preferences, the company struggled to maintain its market position. In 1981, Ansells Brewery was acquired by Allied Breweries, which later became part of the Carlsberg Group.
