June Martino was an American businesswoman, best known for her role as the corporate secretary and treasurer of the fast-food chain McDonald's. She was a close associate of Ray Kroc, the man credited with expanding McDonald's into a global franchise.

Early Life

Martino was born in Chicago, Illinois. Little is known about her early life and education, but it is known that she began her career in the fast-food industry at an early age.

Career at McDonald's

In 1955, Martino was hired by Ray Kroc, who had recently purchased the franchising rights to McDonald's from its original owners, Richard and Maurice McDonald. Martino was instrumental in the company's early growth, managing its finances and helping to establish its corporate structure.

Martino is often credited with creating the McDonald's business model, which relies heavily on franchising. She also played a key role in the creation of the Ronald McDonald House Charities, a nonprofit organization that provides housing for families of hospitalized children.

Later Life and Legacy

After retiring from McDonald's, Martino remained active in the business world, serving on the boards of several companies. She passed away in 2006, leaving behind a significant legacy in the fast-food industry.

Martino's contributions to McDonald's and the fast-food industry as a whole have been recognized by several organizations. In 1995, she was inducted into the Fast Food Hall of Fame, and in 2000, she was posthumously awarded the Ray Kroc Award, an honor given by McDonald's to its top-performing employees.
