Chedoke Hospital was established in 1906 as a sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis. It was originally named the Mountain Sanatorium due to its location on the Hamilton Mountain. In 1961, the hospital was renamed Chedoke Hospital after the nearby Chedoke Creek.
