Layered drink
Layered Drink
A layered drink, also known as a layered cocktail or a pousse-café, is a type of mixed drink that consists of multiple colored layers of different ingredients. These layers are created by carefully pouring each ingredient over the back of a spoon, allowing them to settle on top of each other without mixing.
Ingredients
To create a layered drink, you will need the following ingredients:
- Vodka - 1 oz
- Grenadine - 1 oz
- Blue Curacao - 1 oz
- Pineapple juice - 1 oz
- Coconut rum - 1 oz
- Lime juice - 1 oz
Instructions
Follow these steps to create a layered drink:
- Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
- Pour the vodka into the glass, using the back of a spoon to slow down the pour and create a layer at the bottom.
- Next, pour the grenadine over the spoon to create the second layer.
- Repeat the process with the blue curacao, pineapple juice, coconut rum, and lime juice, in that order, creating distinct layers with each ingredient.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Variations
There are numerous variations of layered drinks, each with its own unique combination of ingredients and colors. Some popular variations include:
- Tequila Sunrise - A layered drink made with tequila, orange juice, and grenadine.
- B-52 - A layered shot made with Kahlua, Baileys Irish Cream, and Grand Marnier.
- Pousse-café - A classic layered drink made with various liqueurs, often served in a narrow, stemmed glass.
