Just-noticeable difference
Just-noticeable difference (JND), also known as the difference threshold or minimal detectable difference, is the minimum level of stimulation that a person can detect 50% of the time. The concept is an important part of psychophysics, a branch of psychology that deals with the relationships between physical stimuli and the sensations and perceptions they produce.
