Wilmar International is a Singaporean multinational agribusiness company. It is involved in various sectors such as oil palm cultivation, edible oils refining, sugar milling and refining, manufacturing of consumer products, specialty fats, oleochemicals, biodiesel and fertilisers, as well as flour and rice milling.

History

Wilmar International was founded in 1991 by Kuok Khoon Hong and Martua Sitorus. The company initially operated in the palm oil refining and kernel crushing business. Over the years, it expanded its operations to include the cultivation and milling of palm oil, as well as the production of oleochemicals and biodiesel.

Operations

Wilmar International operates in more than 50 countries, with a primary focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The company's operations are divided into seven main business segments: Palm and Laurics, Oilseeds and Grains, Consumer Products, Plantations and Palm Oil Mills, Sugar Milling, Sugar Merchandising and Processing, and Others.

Palm and Laurics

This segment involves the processing and merchandising of palm and laurics-related products. It includes the manufacturing and distribution of products derived from palm oil and lauric oils, a group of oils that include palm kernel oil and coconut oil.

Oilseeds and Grains

This segment involves the processing, merchandising, and distribution of oilseeds products such as soybean oil and meal, sunflower seed oil and meal, cottonseed oil and meal, canola oil and meal, peanut oil and meal, and corn.

Consumer Products

This segment involves the processing, branding, and distribution of a wide range of consumer pack edible oils, rice, flour, grains and noodles.

Plantations and Palm Oil Mills

This segment involves the cultivation and milling of palm oil, as well as the production of crude palm oil and palm kernel.

Sugar Milling

This segment involves the milling of sugar cane to produce raw sugar, and the refining of raw sugar to produce refined sugar.

Sugar Merchandising and Processing

This segment involves the merchandising and further processing of sugar and its related products.

Sustainability

Wilmar International has been involved in various sustainability initiatives. The company is a member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and has committed to producing sustainable palm oil.
