Type of cow's milk that lacks _-casein proteins called A1



A2 milk is a type of cow's milk that contains only the A2 beta-casein protein, as opposed to the more common A1 and A2 proteins found in regular milk. The A2 protein is believed to be easier to digest for some people who experience discomfort from regular milk.

Composition

A2 milk is distinguished by its protein composition. The primary protein in milk is casein, which makes up about 80% of the protein content. Casein is further divided into several types, with beta-casein being one of the most significant. Beta-casein has several variants, the most common being A1 and A2. History

Some studies suggest that A1 protein may be associated with digestive discomfort in some individuals, leading to the hypothesis that A2 milk could be a suitable alternative for those with milk intolerance.

Controversy
