DePaul University is a private, Roman Catholic university located in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1898 by the Vincentians, DePaul is the largest Catholic university in the United States by enrollment. The university is named after St. Vincent de Paul, a 17th-century French priest who dedicated his life to serving the poor.
