Outline of law is a comprehensive overview of the discipline of law, which is a system of rules created and enforced through social or governmental institutions to regulate behavior. Law is a system that regulates and ensures that individuals or a community adhere to the will of the state.

Definition

Law is a system of rules that are created and enforced through social or governmental institutions to regulate behavior. It has been defined both as "the Science of Justice" and "the Art of Justice". Branches of Law

Law is divided into two main areas: Civil law and Criminal law. Civil law deals with disputes between individuals or organizations. Criminal law, on the other hand, deals with behavior that is an offense against the public, society, or state.

Civil Law

Civil law, in this context, is a branch of the law which consists of non-criminal law. It is concerned with the rights and duties of persons i.e., individuals and legal entities.

Criminal Law

Criminal law involves the state imposing sanctions for defined crimes committed by individuals or businesses, so that society can achieve its brand of justice and a peaceable social order.

Legal Systems

There are several legal systems in the world, which can generally be grouped into civil law jurisdictions, common law jurisdictions, and those that mix the two. These include Civil law, Common law, Religious law, Pluralistic system, and Mixed system.

Legal Profession

The Legal profession is a vocation that takes on the practical application of legal theories and knowledge to solve specific individualized problems, or to advance the interests of those who hire lawyers to perform legal services.

Legal Education

Legal education is the education of individuals in the principles, practices, and theory of law. It may be undertaken for several reasons, including to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for admission to legal practice in a particular jurisdiction.
