Anand is a city located in the state of Gujarat, India. It is administered by the Anand Municipality and is the administrative centre of the Anand District. The city is known for its dairy industry and is often referred to as the 'Milk Capital of India'. It is home to the Amul Dairy and the National Dairy Development Board.

History

Anand was named after its founder, Anand Rao, a Maratha chieftain. The city has a rich history dating back to the Maratha Empire and has been a significant centre for dairy production since the establishment of the Amul Dairy in 1946.
