The University of Cincinnati (UC) is a public research university in Cincinnati, Ohio. Founded in 1819 as Cincinnati College, it is the oldest institution of higher education in Cincinnati and has an annual enrollment of over 44,000 students, making it the second-largest university in Ohio. The university is part of the University System of Ohio.
History
The University of Cincinnati was established in 1819 as Cincinnati College and the Medical College of Ohio. In 1870, the city of Cincinnati established the University of Cincinnati, which absorbed the earlier institutions. The university became a state institution in 1977.
Campus
The main campus of the University of Cincinnati is located in the Clifton neighborhood of Cincinnati. The campus is known for its unique and innovative architecture, with buildings designed by notable architects such as Frank Gehry, Michael Graves, and Peter Eisenman.
