Cannon County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2020 census, the population was 14,213. Its county seat is Woodbury. The county was established on January 31, 1836, and named for Newton Cannon, the governor of Tennessee at the time.
History
Cannon County was formed in 1836 from parts of Rutherford, Smith, and Warren counties. The county is named in honor of Newton Cannon, who served as the governor of Tennessee from 1835 to 1839.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 266 square miles (690 km²), of which 266 square miles (690 km²) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 km²) (0.08%) is water.
