PAGE2B (Phospholipase A2 Group IIB) is a gene that encodes a member of the phospholipase A2 (PLA2) group of enzymes. These enzymes are critical for the production and metabolism of lipids in the body. PAGE2B specifically belongs to the secretory PLA2 (sPLA2) family, which plays a significant role in the hydrolysis of the sn-2 position of phospholipid substrates, releasing free fatty acids and lysophospholipids.
