List of Human Positions[edit]

The List of Human Positions refers to the different physical configurations that the human body can take. These positions can be categorized into standing, sitting, lying down, and unusual positions.

Standing[edit]

Standing is a position in which the body is held in an upright ("orthostatic") position and supported only by the feet. It is a common position for humans, especially when they are awake and active.

Sitting[edit]

Sitting is a basic human resting position. The body weight is supported primarily by the buttocks in contact with the ground or a horizontal object such as a chair seat. The torso is more or less upright.

Lying Down[edit]

Lying Down is a position in which the body is more or less horizontal and supported along its length by the surface underneath. It is the most common position for sleeping, and for surgical procedures under general anesthesia.

Unusual Positions[edit]

Unusual Positions are those that are not typically used for standing, sitting, or lying down. These can include positions used in yoga, gymnastics, and other physical activities.
