McDonald's Philippines is a subsidiary of the international fast food chain, McDonald's, in the Philippines. It was established in 1981, when George T. Yang opened the first ever McDonald's restaurant in the country at the Morayta, Manila. Today, McDonald's Philippines has over 500 restaurants nationwide, serving millions of Filipinos each day.

History[edit]

George T. Yang, a Chinese-Filipino businessman, brought the McDonald's franchise to the Philippines in 1981. The first store was located in Morayta, Manila. The company has since expanded rapidly, with the 100th store opening in Davao City in 1992. McDonald's Philippines became a 100% Filipino-owned company in 2005.

Menu[edit]

The menu at McDonald's Philippines includes many of the classic items found at McDonald's worldwide, such as the Big Mac, McChicken, and Filet-O-Fish. However, it also features items unique to the Philippines, such as the McSpaghetti, Chicken McDo with Spaghetti, and the Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Seasonal items, like the McRib, are also offered.

Community Involvement[edit]

McDonald's Philippines is known for its community involvement. The company established the Ronald McDonald House Charities in the Philippines in 1995. This charity focuses on providing education and healthcare services to underprivileged children.
