Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) is a non-profit, environmental NGO dedicated to protecting the world's coral reefs. CORAL provides education, tools, and inspiration to help local communities become active stewards of their reefs.

History[edit]

CORAL was founded in 1994 in San Francisco, California, with the aim of uniting communities to save coral reefs. Over the years, it has grown into a global organization with projects in many of the world's most important coral regions.

Mission[edit]

CORAL's mission is to unite communities to save coral reefs. It works to provide the resources, education, and inspiration necessary for people to become active stewards of their local reefs. This includes promoting sustainable tourism, improving fishing practices, and encouraging the establishment of marine protected areas.

Projects[edit]

CORAL has been involved in numerous projects around the world, including in Honduras, Indonesia, Fiji, and Hawaii. These projects often involve working with local communities to develop sustainable practices that protect the reefs while also supporting local economies.

Impact[edit]

CORAL's work has had a significant impact on the health of coral reefs around the world. Its projects have led to the establishment of marine protected areas, the adoption of sustainable fishing practices, and the reduction of threats to reefs from tourism and other human activities.
